Posterior Chain development is a crucial part of any athlete’s development. A strong Posterior Chain can turn an awkward adolescent into an athlete, and an athlete into a Champion. Many Coaches today do not understand how to properly develop the athlete’s Posterior Chain, nor do they understand the science involved. Beyond this docile ignorance, there remains another factor that lies within the athlete, and is the most important part of any training program. John Davies makes it clear as he states, "while far too often the exercise buskers online promote cute gadgets and gleaming machines, speed training is more straight to the point with the common denominator of brutally hard work." Renegade, and AthleticFX speed training is heavily dependent on Posterior Chain development, thus Davies’ comment is directly related. Developing strength and power within your posterior chain is not easy work, nor is it thusly designed. The conscious acknowledgement of this fact is a great self-coaching tool.
There are many exercises that effectively develop strength, and there are many different ways to perform each exercise. In this first series we are going to start out simple.

One of the greatest lifts that will help any athlete develop strength is the squat. The squat is often a misunderstood lift. When performed correctly, there are numerous benefits that reward the squat.

The Squatting Basics –
When performing the squat, keep your feet at least shoulder-width apart, shoulders back, chest out. The first movement is within the hips, not the knees. Push the hips back and sit down. If you can not get to parallel, you may have strength or a range of motion deficiency. If you can perform the squat to parallel, once at the bottom of the squat. Drive your heels into the ground, that in turn will force your body up.

Squatting has many benefits, but most people think it is all about strengthening the lower extremity. More importantly than lower strength development, squatting increases range of motion and coordination, and it teaches the body to move efficiently. These benefits make the squat far more powerful than isolated strength straining.

It is important to understand that you should seek out a Training Proffesional, such as a Renegade Trainer or and AthleticFX Trainer to help you over come these deficiency's, such as range of motion, and dynamic strength, it will not only make you a stronger squatter, but it will increase the overall health of your body, which in turn will increase your daily life activities, and help you live a long active healthy life style.

The numerous benefits of squatting are for everyone, not just elite athletes.
