Frank LupianiMy background in sports has helped define my passion for working with young athletes. I loved my youthful days growing up and playing in the street, the park, the vacant lot. Not to mention the baseball leagues we would ride our bikes to, with the glove on the handlebars and a wad of gum between the teeth.

Today I enjoy watching high school age and younger athletes perform more than any other classification of athletes. Watching the sandlot game is always a special treat, since they’re rare to find these days unless being played on some high tech device. So often at the younger ages you’ll see athletes struggling, still learning how their own bodies move, lacking the coordination to make those same plays they see on TV. While the “naturals” stick out, unable to hold back, their physical abilities reaching beyond the scope of the game for their age. I started AthleticFX about six years ago as a result of watching these frustrated young athletes, and even the naturals, develop only a fraction of their true abilities. Most likely the result of a more sedentary lifestyle than my generation and those before experienced.

Over these past 30 years I’ve been honing my coaching skills. From entry level athletes, to the men and women warriors of the weekend: refining the art required for athletes to receive my message. All the while maintaining my own fitness, so when I say to the parent of an athlete, “the most important goal of my training is to help instill lifelong healthy fitness habits, carrying on long past your child's playing days,” I’m confident I practice what I preach.

Working part time as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist at a local high school: I guide “still developing" student/athletes down a better path; it is one of those jobs where every time you get paid it feels as if you just received a bonus. Since the real payback comes daily, from knowing the positive impact I am making on athletes both in and out of the gym.

Renowned Tudor Bompa provided my compass for which direction to take when coming to a “Y” in the developing young athletes’ road. Certification as a Junior Athletes Training Specialist through Tudor Bompa Training Systems set the tone for all other training concepts to fit into, Renegade training concepts set the standard for all others to meet. John Davies philosophies have provided me a look into the world from a different angle, his Renegade Training concepts www.renegadetraining.com provide an angle that has given my athletes and I the edge we need to compete successfully. Being a member of the first Renegade Training certification class and having the opportunity to work with John these past five years, is something I am proud to be a part of.

Others whose works I follow very closely and have had a major influence on this passion of mine, have a connection to one or both of these internationally recognized and highly respected individuals. Dan Fichter is nationally recognized in the field of sports performance enhancement training through www.Wannagetfast.com and highly thought after locally through the P.I.T., his training center. Dan introduced me to Davies and the “Renegade Wheel of Conditioning”. Brian Grosso is the founder of IYCA, the International Youth Conditioning Association www.IYCA.com and someone I have followed closely over the past several years. I am proud to say these are the coat tails I hold on to, guiding me through the sometimes muddied waters of the strength and conditioning industry, to provide the highest quality training and coaching every parent comes to expect for their young athlete.
